About Harrow

Home Design & Architecture

Harrow occupies a large suburban area north-west of the capital. Harrow on the Hill is the most unique area with its pretty, winding High Street, historical school buildings and lanes of cottages perched on the hillside. In the town centre you will find pockets of Victorian terraces and modern flats. On the southern slopes of the hill there are large, detached Edwardian houses on spacious plots in private roads.

The Harrow Arts Centre in Uxbridge Road, in nearby Hatch End, is housed in a listed Edwardian former school hall and stages a varied programme of plays, musicals, youth and school theatre productions, jazz, dance, children’s events, comedy, films and exhibitions. The nearest council-owned swimming facilities are at Harrow Leisure Centre in Christchurch Avenue, which has a 33-metre pool and a training pool.

Schools in Harrow

Almost all of Harrow’s primary & secondary schools are judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. Below we have listed the schools in and around Harrow along with their Ofsted ranking. Click on the school ‘name’ to see important facts and figures about the school such as:

•  Ofsted Report

•  Number of pupils

•  Age Range

•  Pupil/Teacher Ratio

•  % of Pupils achieving Level 4 or Level 5 in maths, reading and writing

•  Happiness Rating

•  Average Point Score for Key Stage 2

•  Boarding Type

•  Scholarship Status

•  Pupils first language not English

+ How does the Ofstead ranking system work?

Grade 1 : Outstanding
An outstanding school is highly effective in delivering outcomes that provide exceptionally well for all its pupils’ needs. This ensures that pupils are very well equipped for the next stage of their education, training or employment.

Grade 2 : Good
A good school is effective in delivering outcomes that provide well for all its pupils’ needs. Pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education, training or employment.

Grade 3 : Requires improvement
A school that requires improvement is not yet a good school, but it is not inadequate. This school will receive a full inspection within 24 months from the date of this inspection.

Grade 4 : Inadequate
A school that has serious weaknesses is inadequate overall and requires significant improvement but leadership and management are judged to be Grade 3 or better. This school will receive regular monitoring by Ofsted inspectors. A school that requires special measures is one where the school is failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard of education and the school’s leaders, managers or governors have not demonstrated that they have the capacity to secure the necessary improvement in the school. This school will receive regular monitoring by Ofsted inspectors.

NOTE: Private Schools do not have an Ofsted report however they do have an Independent Inspection Report (IIR) that is similar to the Ofsted report
